House Sponsors: HOWARD AND GILES. Short description: PART-TIME EMPLOYEE WAGE SUPP Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Part-Time Employee Wage Supplement Act. Provides that a part-time employee is entitled to a portion of the employer-sponsored insurance, pension, health, child care, and vacation time benefits available to full-time employees. Sets forth a method for computing benefits. Applies only to employers in this State with more than 500 employees. Provides that the Department of Labor shall administer the Act. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that the benefits required under the Act are minimum benefits and no employer is prevented from providing benefits exceeding those set forth in the Act. Deletes language providing that no employer is required to provide payment of wage supplements to an employee not currently employed by the employer. Inserts new provisions for the administration and enforcement of the Act. FISCAL NOTE, AMENDED (Dept. of Labor) No fiscal impact will be incurred by the Department. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Provides that the Act does not apply to the State of Illinois, units of local government, and school districts.
