90_SR0040 LRB9005469KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened 3 to learn of the death of Millie Brown of Chicago, Illinois; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, Millie Lucille Freeman Brown was born in 6 Chicago, Illinois on June 6, 1937; the daughter of James and 7 Lettie Freeman, Millie was the fourth of fifteen children, 8 and was given the nickname "Will"; and 9 WHEREAS, Millie lived all her life on the south side of 10 Chicago, where she graduated from Drake Elementary and Dunbar 11 Vocational High School; while attending Dunbar she learned 12 how to be a milliner; after graduation she worked for a brief 13 period as a milliner as well as working at Spiegel on 35th 14 Street; and 15 WHEREAS, Millie made the decision to go into a career she 16 loved and became a licensed beautician; Millie also helped 17 out in her brother George's West Coast Video Store; and 18 WHEREAS, Millie married Valentine Brown, Sr. on September 19 26, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois; together they had one son, 20 Valentine Brown, Jr.; and 21 WHEREAS, Millie is survived by a loving family, including 22 her son Valentine; her daughter-in-law Sonji Denise; her 23 grandchildren Valentine III, Dominique Charles Anthony, and 24 Breanna Denise; her mother-in-law Mary Parker; her brothers 25 Joseph James and his wife Harriett, George Lee, Edward Allen, 26 John Leslie and his wife Franchester, and Donald Roy; her 27 sisters Evelyn Elizabeth and her husband George, Annie Lettie 28 Marie, Yvonne Charlotte, Doris Jean and her husband 29 Cornelius, Lorraine Sheila, Lillian Augustine and her husband 30 Michael, and Donna Ruth and her husband Tommy; brothers and 31 sisters-in-law Jacene (Leon), Archie Gene, Betty Ruth -2- LRB9005469KBkb 1 (Charles), Gary (Linda), Floyd Thomas (Connie), Louise, and 2 Mignon; her aunts Ruth Outlaw, Nora Nixon, Emma Freeman, 3 Mercedes Freeman, and Ruth Emanuel; as well as several 4 nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends; therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 6 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Millie 7 Brown of Chicago, Illinois and extend our sincere condolences 8 to her family and friends; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to the family of Millie Brown of Chicago, Illinois
