1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1420
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 1420 as follows:
3 by replacing the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT to amend the Illinois Public Aid Code by changing
5 Section 5-5.21."; and
6 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
7 following:
8 "Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
9 changing Section 5-5.21 as follows:
10 (305 ILCS 5/5-5.21)
11 Sec. 5-5.21. Reimbursement methodology. The Illinois
12 Department shall form a workgroup comprised of
13 representatives of the Illinois Department, the Illinois
14 Department of Public Health, and members of the long-term
15 care provider community to implement a reimbursement
16 methodology based upon the federally mandated resident
17 assessment instrument. No later than January 1, 1997, the
18 Illinois Department in conjunction with the work group will
19 recommend to the Governor a methodology for determining
20 payment rates for services in nursing facilities based upon

1 the federally mandated resident assessment instrument. No
2 later than June 30, 1997, the Illinois Department shall
3 implement a methodology for determining payment rates for
4 services in nursing facilities based upon federal
5 requirements.
