90_SB1121enr 625 ILCS 5/3-808.1 from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-808.1 Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that permanent vehicle registration plates shall be issued to all-terrain vehicles owned by counties, townships, or municipal corporations and used for law enforcement purposes. Effective immediately. LRB9003332NTsb SB1121 Enrolled LRB9003332NTsb 1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing 2 Section 3-808.1. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 6 changing Section 3-808.1 as follows: 7 (625 ILCS 5/3-808.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-808.1) 8 Sec. 3-808.1. (a) Permanent vehicle registration plates 9 shall be issued, at no charge, to the following: 10 1. Vehicles, other than medical transport vehicles, 11 owned and operated by the State of Illinois or by any 12 State agency financed by funds appropriated by the 13 General Assembly; 14 2. Special person with disabilities plates issued 15 to vehicles owned and operated by the State of Illinois 16 or by any State agency financed by funds appropriated by 17 the General Assembly. 18 (b) Permanent vehicle registration plates shall be 19 issued, for a one time fee of $8.00, to the following: 20 1. Vehicles, other than medical transport vehicles, 21 operated by or for any county, township or municipal 22 corporation; 23 2. Vehicles owned by counties, townships or 24 municipal corporations for persons with disabilities. 25 3. Beginning with the 1991 registration year, 26 county-owned vehicles operated by or for any county 27 sheriff and designated deputy sheriffs. These 28 registration plates shall contain the specific county 29 code and unit number. 30 4. All-terrain vehicles owned by counties, 31 townships, or municipal corporations and used for law SB1121 Enrolled -2- LRB9003332NTsb 1 enforcement purposes when the Manufacturer's Statement of 2 Origin is accompanied with a letter from the original 3 manufacturer or a manufacturer's franchised dealer 4 stating that this all-terrain vehicle has been converted 5 to a street worthy vehicle that meets the equipment 6 requirements set forth in Chapter 12 of this Code. 7 (Source: P.A. 88-685, eff. 1-24-95.) 8 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 9 becoming law.
