The Supreme Court Act is amended by changing 6 Section 6 as follows: 7 (705 ILCS 5/6) (from Ch. 37, par. 11) 8 Sec. 6. The several judges of the supreme court, before 9 entering upon the duties of their office, shall take and 10 subscribe the following oath or affirmation: 11 I do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be) that 12 I will support the constitution of the United States and the 13 constitution of the state of Illinois, and that I will 14 faithfully discharge the duties of the office of judge of the 15 supreme court of the state of Illinois, according to the best 16 of my ability. 17 TheWhichoath or affirmation may be administered by any 18 person authorized to administer oaths--a certificate whereof 19 shall be affixed thereto by the person administering the 20 oath. And the oath or affirmation so certified shall be filed 21 in the office of the Secretary of State. 22 (Source: Laws 1874, p. 327.)
