1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Thirteen year old Matthew Ryan of Western
3 Springs, Illinois was a beloved member of his community; and
4 WHEREAS, Matthew's life was tragically cut short, after
5 being struck and killed by a motorist as he walked along the
6 shoulder of Wolf Road on April 9, 1997; and
7 WHEREAS, Residents in the community wish to honor
8 Matthew's memory; and
9 WHEREAS, There is a State highway bridge located on Wolf
10 Road, between 31st Street and Ogden Avenue, spanning the Salt
11 Creek; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the
14 State highway bridge located on Wolf Road, between 31st
15 Street and Ogden Avenue, spanning the Salt Creek, be named
16 the Matthew Ryan Memorial Bridge; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
18 be requested to erect, at a suitable location consistent with
19 State and federal regulations, an appropriate plaque or signs
20 giving notice of the name of the bridge; and be it further
21 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this preamble and
22 resolution be presented to the family of Matthew Ryan and the
23 Secretary of Transportation.
