1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, House Resolution 89 created a Special
3 Investigative Committee for the purpose of investigating the
4 conduct of Supreme Court Justice James D. Heiple; and
5 WHEREAS, The Special Investigative Committee organized by
6 adopting procedural rules on April 29, 1997; and
7 WHEREAS, The Special Investigative Committee heard
8 testimony from 23 witnesses over 4 days of hearings producing
9 a transcript of 1,106 pages; and
10 WHEREAS, To date 34 exhibits have been admitted into the
11 Special Investigative Committee Record; and
12 WHEREAS, House Resolution 89 established a May 12, 1997
13 reporting deadline for the Special Investigative Committee;
14 and the Committee desires additional time in order to discuss
15 the evidence and testimony contained in the Committee Record
16 and to deliberate on the issues presented therein; therefore,
17 be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the
20 Special Investigative Committee of the House of
21 Representatives of the Ninetieth General Assembly created by
22 House Resolution 89 shall submit a final report and its
23 recommendations to the House of Representatives by filing a
24 copy with the Clerk of the House of Representatives no later
25 than Friday, May 16, 1997.
