1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois General Assembly has enacted laws
3 to prohibit sexual harassment in the workplace and stands in
4 strong support of those laws; and
5 WHEREAS, Employees who have the courage and determination
6 to report violations of those laws in an effort to ensure a
7 safe and productive workplace deserve recognition and
8 appreciation; and
9 WHEREAS, In the past few years, female employees of the
10 Mitsubishi Corporation have come forward to report instances
11 of harassment and intimidation, despite management's
12 discouragement of its employees from pursuing their legal
13 rights through lawful means established by this Body and the
14 federal government; and
15 WHEREAS, The spirit and resoluteness of these women have
16 resulted in bringing about measures to rectify those illegal
17 conditions; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 support and applaud the actions of the women employees of the
21 Mitsubishi Corporation for bringing the fundamental issues of
22 the workplace to our attention and extend our appreciation
23 for their courage; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
25 presented to those courageous women employees of the
26 Mitsubishi Corporation.
