90_HJ0049 LRB9011107KBkb 1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The HIV/AIDS epidemic affects a great number of 3 people in Illinois under the age of eighteen and these 4 effects are shared by their families and communities; and 5 WHEREAS, The effects of the HIV virus on the very young 6 are devastating not only medically but socially; and 7 WHEREAS, The establishment of the Codi Vespa Day of 8 Pediatric Aids Awareness would not only commemorate the 9 strength of one child born HIV positive who lived her life 10 with joy and courage, but it would also commemorate the lives 11 of all children who are afflicted with this virus; and 12 WHEREAS, Establishment of this day would allow 13 organizations dealing with this epidemic in Illinois to 14 communicate their services and needs to their communities, 15 and would allow communities and organizations to seek ways to 16 help the children afflicted with the virus; and 17 WHEREAS, Further awareness of the causes and treatments 18 for pediatric Aids can greatly decrease the devastating 19 effects of this virus; therefore, be it 20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 21 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 22 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the date of April 21 shall be 23 annually designated as "Codi Vespa Day of Pediatric Aids 24 Awareness" within the State of Illinois.
