90_HB1654 625 ILCS 5/5-104.4 new Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that every manufacturer of a new motor vehicle shall pay for costs incurred in connection with any repairs necessary to deactivate or turn off a falsely triggered maintenance required sensor or warning or indicator light in the motor vehicle. Effective immediately. LRB9001105NTsbA LRB9001105NTsbA 1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by adding 2 Section 5-104.4. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 6 adding Section 5-104.4 as follows: 7 (625 ILCS 5/5-104.4 new) 8 Sec. 5-104.4. Manufacturer's responsibility for 9 malfunctioning maintenance required warning or indicator 10 lights. Every manufacturer of a new motor vehicle sold or 11 offered for sale in this State shall be required to pay for 12 or otherwise reimburse any reasonable costs incurred in 13 connection with any repairs necessary to deactivate or turn 14 off a falsely triggered maintenance required sensor or 15 warning or indicator light in the motor vehicle. 16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 17 becoming law.
