The Illinois Pension Code is amended by 6 changing Section 5-179 as follows: 7 (40 ILCS 5/5-179) (from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 5-179) 8 Sec. 5-179. Board elections. The regular elections for 9 members of the board shall be held under rules of the board 10 at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the term of 11 office of any elective member. 12 At any election for active policemen members, allsuch13 policemenof the appropriate rankemployed by the city when 14 the election is held have a right to vote for all active 15 police officer positions on the board, regardless of rankfor16members of the board of the same class of rank. 17 At any election for the pensioner or annuitant member, 18 all annuitants and pensioners (except children less than age 19 18) and the legal guardian of any child annuitant or child 20 pensioner, whose mother or stepmother is not an annuitant or 21 pensioner of the fund, shall have a right to vote. 22 Ballots to be cast in such elections shall be of a secret 23 character. 24 (Source: P.A. 80-671.) 25 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 26 becoming law.
