Amends the Township Code. Changes the date the township clerk shall certify the nominated candidates to not less than 68 days (currently, 61 days) before the township election.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section |
5 | | 45-20 as follows:
|
6 | | (60 ILCS 1/45-20)
|
7 | | Sec. 45-20. Caucus result; filing nomination papers; |
8 | | certifying candidates.
|
9 | | (a) The township central committee shall canvass and |
10 | | declare the result of
the caucus.
|
11 | | (b) The chairman of the township central committee shall, |
12 | | not more than 113
nor less than 106 days before the township |
13 | | election, file nomination papers as
provided in this Section. |
14 | | The nomination papers shall consist of (i) a
certification by |
15 | | the chairman of the names of all candidates for office in the
|
16 | | township nominated at the caucus and (ii) a statement of |
17 | | candidacy by each
candidate in the form prescribed in the |
18 | | general election law. The nomination
papers shall be filed in |
19 | | the office of the township clerk, except that if the
township |
20 | | is entirely within the corporate limits of a city, village, or
|
21 | | incorporated town under the jurisdiction of a board of election |
22 | | commissioners,
the nomination papers shall be filed in the |
23 | | office of the board of election
commissioners instead of the |
