Amends the Emergency Telephone System Act. Provides that a telecommunications carrier shall provide 2 trunk lines to each Private Branch Exchange of a subscriber, at no cost to the subscriber, with the second trunk line automatically being routed all calls at the failure of the first trunk line. Further provides that the second trunk line shall be installed and routed to the subscriber's choice of location including, but not limited to, fire stations, police departments, and public safety answering points. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 15.9 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (50 ILCS 750/15.9 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 15.9. Trunk lines to private branch exchange service. |
| 8 | | A telecommunications carrier shall provide 2 trunk lines to |
| 9 | | each Private Branch Exchange of a subscriber with the second |
| 10 | | trunk line automatically being routed all calls at the failure |
| 11 | | of the first trunk line. The second trunk line shall be |
| 12 | | installed and routed to the subscriber's choice of location |
| 13 | | including, but not limited to, fire stations, police |
| 14 | | departments, and public safety answering points. The |
| 15 | | subscriber shall not be charged for costs associated with |
| 16 | | installation of the second trunk line or any monthly service |
| 17 | | fee.
