Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that the Department of Human Services shall require all persons applying for cash benefits under the Code and, subject to federal approval, all persons applying for benefits under the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to answer the following question on their application for benefits: "Are you employed? Yes or no. If yes, please name your employer." Requires the Department to annually compile data on the employment information provided by all applicants in answer to this question and to annually submit a report on such data and employment information to the General Assembly. Grants the Department rulemaking authority.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 12-4.49 as follows: |
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/12-4.49 new) |
7 | | Sec. 12-4.49. Application questions; cash assistance; |
8 | | SNAP. |
9 | | (a) The Department of Human Services shall require all |
10 | | persons applying for cash benefits under this Code and, subject |
11 | | to federal approval, all persons applying for benefits under |
12 | | the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) |
13 | | to answer the following question on their application for |
14 | | benefits: |
15 | | "Are you employed? Yes or no. If yes, please name your |
16 | | employer." |
17 | | The Department shall annually compile data on the |
18 | | employment information provided by all applicants in answer to |
19 | | this question and shall annually submit a report on such data |
20 | | and employment information to the General Assembly. |
21 | | (b) The Department shall adopt any rules necessary to |
22 | | implement the provisions of this Section.
