2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened by |
3 | | the death of Thomas W. McNamara of Oak Park, who passed away on |
4 | | June 15, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Thomas McNamara was born on October 31, 1931; he |
6 | | attended Fenwick High School in Oak Park, the University of |
7 | | Notre Dame, and Northwestern University Law School; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Thomas McNamara practiced law his entire career at |
9 | | the firm now known as Jenner & Block, specializing in real |
10 | | estate, zoning, and other business-related matters; he also |
11 | | handled many pro bono cases and argued before the United States |
12 | | Supreme Court in the case of "Organization for a Better Austin |
13 | | v. O'Keefe"; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Thomas McNamara often referred to himself as an |
15 | | avid "indoorsman"; he enjoyed cards, casinos, and playing golf; |
16 | | he was a member for many years at the Oak Park Country Club and |
17 | | the Point O'Woods Country Club, where he served as president; |
18 | | and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Thomas McNamara was preceded in death by his wife |
20 | | of 50 years, Rita, and by his son, Thomas W. McNamara Jr.; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Thomas McNamara is survived by his children, Margo |
2 | | (Gerry) Chadwick, Maureen (Brent) Stratton, Kathleen (Kevin) |
3 | | Conroy, Robert (Suzanne) McNamara, Mary Rita (Steve) Skrine, |
4 | | and Michelle McNamara (Patton Oswalt); his grandchildren, Kate |
5 | | (Mike) Vriner, Maureen, Claire, Brian, Connor, Dylan, Brendan, |
6 | | Liam, Maggie, Elizabeth, Tommy, Colleen, Sean, Katherine, |
7 | | Steven, Patrick, and Alice; his great-grandchild, Rita Vriner; |
8 | | and his siblings, Jeanette (the late Jack) Dan, Marilyn (Tom) |
9 | | Schaub, Jerry (Sue) McNamara, and Eileen McNamara; therefore, |
10 | | be it

11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
13 | | Thomas W. McNamara, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
15 | | further

16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Thomas McNamara as an expression of |
18 | | our deepest sympathy.
