|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joseph Barclay Organ, who passed away on |
4 | | May 26, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ was born on January 14, 1925 in Oak |
6 | | Park; he was a lifelong resident of Oak Park and River Forest; |
7 | | he married his loving wife, Marilyn, in 1950; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ attended Mann Elementary School and |
9 | | was a graduate of Fenwick High School; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ served in the United States Army |
11 | | during World War II and was stationed in Europe; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, After the war, Joseph Organ attended Kenyon |
13 | | College in Gambier, Ohio, where he was a member of the Alpha |
14 | | Delta Phi fraternity; after graduation, he returned to Oak Park |
15 | | and worked for the family lumber and garage-building business; |
16 | | and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ was involved in real estate |
18 | | throughout his career; he built residential homes and was a |
19 | | licensed realtor; he later worked as supervisor of property |
20 | | acquisitions for the Illinois Department of Transportation; |

2 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ served on the River Forest Park |
3 | | District Board for over 30 years, many of them as board |
4 | | president; he served as president and was a longtime member of |
5 | | the River Forest Service Club; he also served as commander of |
6 | | River Forest American Legion Post 730 and was an active member |
7 | | of the River Forest Republican Organization; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ was the recipient of the Community |
9 | | Service Award from the River Forest Service Club in 2006 for |
10 | | his long history of volunteer service in the community; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, During his retirement, Joseph Organ was a daily |
12 | | communicant at St. Luke Church in River Forest; he also enjoyed |
13 | | spending time with his devoted family and watching thoroughbred |
14 | | racing with friends at Maywood Park Racetrack; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ was preceded in death by his parents, |
16 | | Patrick Joseph Organ and Marie Callahan Organ, and 2 sisters, |
17 | | Patricia Organ Davis Fox McGah and Sally Organ Hughes; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Organ is survived by his wife of 64 years, |
19 | | Marilyn; 3 children, Joseph Barclay Organ, Jr., Melinda Organ |
20 | | Brennan (Terry), and Marcia O'Brien Organ (Michael); 4 |
21 | | grandchildren, Marcella Brennan and Mike, Maggie, and Jack |

1 | | O'Brien; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|
2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
4 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Joseph Barclay Organ; |
5 | | and be it further
|
6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Joseph Organ as an expression of our |
8 | | sympathy.
