|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Quigley Nall Fletcher of Palatine, who |
4 | | passed away on August 29, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher was born in Akron, Iowa on |
6 | | January 19, 1933 to Quigley and Fannie (nee Cooper) Fletcher; |
7 | | he lived for a time in Iowa, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Nebraska and |
8 | | Illinois; he attended Palatine High School for 2 years and |
9 | | graduated from Robling High School in New Jersey in 1950; he |
10 | | joined the National Guard and served with the United States |
11 | | Army during the Korean War; he was discharged in 1952; he |
12 | | married Diane in 1955 in Des Plaines and they resided in the |
13 | | same home for 57 years; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Following his discharge, Quigley Fletcher |
15 | | attended night school at the Illinois Institute of Technology |
16 | | in Chicago, where he received a degree in Civil Engineering; he |
17 | | was also a licensed Professional Engineer for the states of |
18 | | Illinois and Wisconsin; in 1952, he began working for Kimball |
19 | | Hill and Associates; he then worked for Fletcher Engineering, |
20 | | Harza Engineering, and Plote, Inc.; he retired from Plote, Inc. |
21 | | in 1989 and continued in the business with Glander Paving, |
22 | | Dipaolo Company, and Petro Paving; he fully retired in 2008 so |
23 | | he could relax and be at home with his wife, Diane; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher was a founding member and |
2 | | Chairman of the Board of Willow Creek Community Church; he |
3 | | enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, |
4 | | volunteering at church, playing cards, cooking, and sailing; he |
5 | | was especially fond of sports and loved watching his children |
6 | | and grandchildren participate in all of their activities; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher was preceded in death by his |
8 | | parents, Quigley and Fannie; his sister, Suzanne Woelfel; and |
9 | | his brothers-in-law, Dana Schubert and Donald Winn; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher is survived by his wife of 59 |
11 | | years, Diane (nee Schubert) Fletcher; his son, Brian Fletcher |
12 | | (Mary Beth) and their sons, Benjamin and Charley; his son, |
13 | | Devin Fletcher (Deb) and his sons, Daniel (Jen), Jason, Joshua |
14 | | and his daughter, Makenzie and his step-children, Jordan Thurow |
15 | | and Vanessa (Bryan) Roberts; his daughter, Amy (Steve) Trende |
16 | | and their sons, Gregory and Matthew; his daughter, Wendy Wicker |
17 | | and her daughters, Georgia, Sophia, and Ella; his siblings, |
18 | | Nora Winn, Tom (Sandy) Fletcher, and Donald Fletcher; his |
19 | | sisters-in-law, Karen (Tom) Anderson, Stuart (Jan) Schubert, |
20 | | and Molly Schubert; he also leaves behind a number of dear |
21 | | nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families; |
22 | | therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | Quigley Nall Fletcher, and extend our sincere condolences to |
4 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
5 | | further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Quigley Fletcher as an expression of |
8 | | our deepest sympathy.
