|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of James Donald McLaughlin of McHenry, who |
4 | | passed away on May 30, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, James McLaughlin was born on September 25, 1931 in |
6 | | Chicago to George and Josephine (nee Pellage) McLaughlin; he |
7 | | was raised in Park Ridge, played on the Maine Township High |
8 | | School football team, and attended the University of Illinois |
9 | | at Urbana-Champaign, where he pledged the Sigma Chi fraternity; |
10 | | he served in the United States Army and married Joan Ellen on |
11 | | May 4, 1963 in Rockford; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, James McLaughlin worked as a residential |
13 | | brokerage manager for Wm. L. Kunkel Realtors in Des Plaines; |
14 | | after retirement, he worked as a real estate sales |
15 | | representative for Baird & Warner in Arlington Heights until |
16 | | 2004; he was an associate director for the Northwest Board of |
17 | | Realtors, designated to the Council of Real Estate Brokerage |
18 | | Managers by the National Association of Realtors, and was a |
19 | | member of the Million Dollar Sales Club; he achieved numerous |
20 | | recognitions in real estate; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, James McLaughlin taught a Home Buyers Clinic at |
22 | | District 214 High Schools; he worked as a judge of elections |

1 | | and as a precinct captain, on the Arlington Heights Festival, |
2 | | with Meals on Wheels and the Arlington Heights Youth Center, |
3 | | and coached youth baseball and softball; after moving to |
4 | | McHenry, he served on the Board of Legend Lakes Homeowners |
5 | | Association; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, James McLaughlin enjoyed traveling, skiing, |
7 | | gardening, and sailing from the Chicago Yacht Club, including |
8 | | several Chicago-Mackinac races; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, James McLaughlin is survived by his wife, Joan; |
10 | | children, Michael James McLaughlin and Amy (Marty) Maciaszek; |
11 | | grandchildren, Carolann and Colin McLaughlin and Dillon, |
12 | | Margaret, Ellen, and Kira Maciaszek; brother, George J. (Tiia) |
13 | | McLaughlin, Jr.; sister-in-law, Nancy (Keith) Hyzer; numerous |
14 | | nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his Shetland sheep dog, |
15 | | Annie; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | James Donald McLaughlin, and extend our sincere condolences to |
19 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
20 | | further
