2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Nick J. Hamilos of Glen Carbon, who |
4 | | passed away on May 10, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Nick Hamilos was born on October 22, 1921 in St. |
6 | | Louis, Missouri; he married Leona Mateyka on June 21, 1947 at |
7 | | the old St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Nick Hamilos served in the United States Army Air |
9 | | Forces from 1942 to 1945 in the European and Middle Eastern |
10 | | Theatres; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, After his stint in the military, Nick Hamilos went |
12 | | back to Madison and joined his brother, Chris, in his meat |
13 | | business, becoming co-owner of Hamilos Brothers Meat Company; |
14 | | they worked together for 47 years until retiring after selling |
15 | | their business; he was the creator of "Nick's" seasoning, which |
16 | | is still sold today; and

17 | | WHEREAS, Nick Hamilos was a charter member of the Glen |
18 | | Carbon Kiwanis Club, which started on September 10, 1953; he |
19 | | was also a trustee of the Glen Carbon Fire District, a 20-year |
20 | | member of the Edwardsville Unit 7 School Board, and a 20-year |
21 | | member of the Madison County Board; and
