2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Lexie Kamerman of Chicago, who passed |
4 | | away on January 17, 2014 in Kabul, Afghanistan; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was a 2008 graduate of Knox College |
6 | | in Galesburg, where she was an active and engaged student, with |
7 | | majors in Anthropology, Sociology, and Environmental Studies; |
8 | | she served as a leader in the Pi Beta Phi sorority and on the |
9 | | college's water polo team, carrying the team to the Collegiate |
10 | | Water Polo Association's Women's National Club championship; |
11 | | and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was a global citizen and went to |
13 | | Afghanistan following her graduation to help build the student |
14 | | development program at the American University; she trained |
15 | | women as resident assistants to help educate them to be the |
16 | | Afghan leaders of the future; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was a deep thinker and a fearless |
18 | | advocate for a better world; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was the beloved daughter of Alison |
20 | | Pohn and Jack McCarthy; the cherished niece of Jeff Pohn (Possy |
21 | | Holmes), Lisa (Jonathan) Levy, Julie (Adam) Pfeffer, Susan |
