1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Shirley Helen Rasmussen-Heisler of |
4 | | Woodstock, who passed away on December 21, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler was born on March 5, |
6 | | 1925 in Waukegan to Carl and Lucille (nee Barkoske) Rasmussen; |
7 | | she spent her early years in Waukegan and then moved with her |
8 | | family to Libertyville and eventually Crystal Lake; she |
9 | | graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1943 and from |
10 | | Northern Illinois State Teachers College in 1949, with a degree |
11 | | in teaching physical education, and while there, worked for a |
12 | | year at McDonald Douglas Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter"; she |
13 | | married Richard G. Heisler in Woodstock on August 19, 1950; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler began her career by |
15 | | teaching physical education at St. Charles High School; she |
16 | | then taught for 2 years at St. Mary's High School in Woodstock; |
17 | | in 1962, she began teaching at Woodstock High School and |
18 | | remained there until her retirement in 1978; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, After retirement, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler and |
20 | | her husband founded the Woodchucks Camping Club and traveled |
21 | | all over the United States in their camper; she was a member of |
22 | | St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Woodstock for over 50 years; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler was preceded in death |
2 | | by her husband, Richard; her parents; her sister, Jean (Albert) |
3 | | Albertsen; and her in-laws, Jacob and Grace; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler is survived by her |
5 | | daughter, Judy Wett; her son, Wade (Debra) Heisler; her |
6 | | grandchildren, Jillian (Michael) Nazarof, J.J. (Sheena Dravis) |
7 | | Wett, Kristin (Benson) Sanford, Kimberly (Mark) Kunkle, and |
8 | | Kelly Heisler; her great-grandson, Jonathan Nazarof; her |
9 | | siblings, Carlyle (Marjorie) Rasmussen, RuthAnne (Clem) |
10 | | Marley, Jack (Jane) Rasmussen, Janet (Eugene) Gulgren, Pat |
11 | | (Jack) Frothingham, and Kay (Edward) Lutz; and many nieces and |
12 | | nephews; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Shirley Helen Rasmussen-Heisler, and extend our sincere |
16 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
17 | | her; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler as an |
20 | | expression of our deepest sympathy.
