2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Marylin Bromaghim, who passed away on |
4 | | November 4, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Marylin Bromaghim was born on May 5, 1924 in |
6 | | Alton; her parents were Everett F. and Mary Harriett (nee |
7 | | Vedder) Butler; she married Andrew Richardson in 1944 in Alton; |
8 | | he preceded her in death in 1946; she later married Harry Leon |
9 | | Bromaghim in 1949 in Alton; he preceded her in death in June of |
10 | | 1955; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Marylin Bromaghim earned her bachelor's degree at |
12 | | Shurtleff College and her master's degree at Washington |
13 | | University; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Marylin Bromaghim was employed as a librarian for |
15 | | the Alton Public School District and Hayner Public Library; she |
16 | | also loved working at the Caravan Resale Shop; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Marylin Bromaghim was a member of St. Paul |
18 | | Episcopal Church in Alton; she played trombone in the Civic |
19 | | Orchestra and was an active member in the Alton Area Business |
20 | | and Professional Women's Organization; she served as the head |
21 | | of the Health Education Program at the YWCA; she was also |

1 | | active with the Oasis Women's Center and was on the board since |
2 | | its inception; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Marylin Bromaghim was preceded in death by her |
4 | | first husband, Andrew; her second husband, Harry; her parents; |
5 | | and her brother, Robert Butler; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Marylin Bromaghim is survived by her sons, Robert |
7 | | Andrew (Barbara Jean) Richardson and David Charles |
8 | | (Jacqueline) Bromaghim; her daughter, Ann Bromaghim; her |
9 | | sister, Gladys Virginia Butler; her sister-in-law, Bea Butler; |
10 | | her grandchildren, Joel (Traci) Bromaghim, David (Jenni), |
11 | | Brent (Genissa) Richardson, and Brandon (Amanda) Richardson; |
12 | | her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jacob, Ethan, Keira, Logan, |
13 | | and Tori Bromaghim; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, |
14 | | be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Marylin Bromaghim; and |
18 | | be it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Marylin Bromaghim as an expression |
21 | | of our sympathy.
