SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Linscott R. Hanson of Green Oaks, who passed away on July 24, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was born on October 4, 1937 in Evanston; he received both his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Michigan; he was a former resident of Glenview, Mundelein, and Barrington; and

WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was a senior partner with the firm DiMonte & Lizak, LLC in Park Ridge, practicing in the areas of corporate law and estate planning for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was active in his field outside of his position with DiMonte & Lizak; he was a 20-year member and former Chairman of the Secretary of State's Business Laws Advisory Committee and he chaired the Committee on Shareholders Alternative Remedies as well as the Illinois Bar Association's Section on Business Advice and Financial Planning; he published books on corporation law and limited liability companies, and was a frequent lecturer and author on family owned business, estate planning, and related topics; he co-authored the Business Corporation Act of 1983 and the Limited Liability Company Act, and penned the law concerning pet trusts in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Lin Hanson served the people of the State of Illinois through his advocacy, scholarship, and leadership as part of the original Secretary of State's Business Corporation Act Advisory Committee, later known as the Secretary of State's Business Acts Advisory Committee, which re-shaped and modernized the business entity laws in this State; during his tenure on the Committee, the Business Corporation Act and Not-For-Profit Corporation Act were re-written, the Limited Liability Company Act was created, and numerous statutes were amended or enacted; he served on the Committee for over 20 years, including several years as Chairman of the Committee; and

WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was a member of the Glenview New Church, and was a proud brother and member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity "DKE"; he was a former president and board member of the International Rampant Lion Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Lin Hanson is survived by his wife, Mary Cate Hanson, and his son, Linscott "Scott" Hanson II; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Linscott R. Hanson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Linscott R. Hanson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
