2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Linscott R. Hanson of Green Oaks, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 24, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was born on October 4, 1937 in | ||||||
6 | Evanston; he received both his undergraduate degree and law | ||||||
7 | degree from the University of Michigan; he was a former | ||||||
8 | resident of Glenview, Mundelein, and Barrington; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was a senior partner with the firm | ||||||
10 | DiMonte & Lizak, LLC in Park Ridge, practicing in the areas of | ||||||
11 | corporate law and estate planning for over 50 years; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was active in his field outside of his | ||||||
13 | position with DiMonte & Lizak; he was a 20-year member and | ||||||
14 | former Chairman of the Secretary of State's Business Laws | ||||||
15 | Advisory Committee and he chaired the Committee on Shareholders | ||||||
16 | Alternative Remedies as well as the Illinois Bar Association's | ||||||
17 | Section on Business Advice and Financial Planning; he published | ||||||
18 | books on corporation law and limited liability companies, and | ||||||
19 | was a frequent lecturer and author on family owned business, | ||||||
20 | estate planning, and related topics; he co-authored the | ||||||
21 | Business Corporation Act of 1983 and the Limited Liability | ||||||
22 | Company Act, and penned the law concerning pet trusts in |

1 | Illinois; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Lin Hanson served the people of the State of | ||||||
3 | Illinois through his advocacy, scholarship, and leadership as | ||||||
4 | part of the original Secretary of State's Business Corporation | ||||||
5 | Act Advisory Committee, later known as the Secretary of State's | ||||||
6 | Business Acts Advisory Committee, which re-shaped and | ||||||
7 | modernized the business entity laws in this State; during his | ||||||
8 | tenure on the Committee, the Business Corporation Act and | ||||||
9 | Not-For-Profit Corporation Act were re-written, the Limited | ||||||
10 | Liability Company Act was created, and numerous statutes were | ||||||
11 | amended or enacted; he served on the Committee for over 20 | ||||||
12 | years, including several years as Chairman of the Committee; | ||||||
13 | and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Lin Hanson was a member of the Glenview New | ||||||
15 | Church, and was a proud brother and member of the Delta Kappa | ||||||
16 | Epsilon Fraternity "DKE"; he was a former president and board | ||||||
17 | member of the International Rampant Lion Foundation; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Lin Hanson is survived by his wife, Mary Cate | ||||||
19 | Hanson, and his son, Linscott "Scott" Hanson II; therefore, be | ||||||
20 | it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

1 | Linscott R. Hanson, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
2 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
3 | further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to the family of Linscott R. Hanson as an expression | ||||||
6 | of our deepest sympathy.
