SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Ellen A. Furtkamp, who passed away on 
4June 23, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp was born on December 13, 1927, in 
6Staunton; she married Robert W. Furtkamp on January 29, 1947, 
7in St. Louis, Missouri; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp attended the University of 
9Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp served as chairperson of the Lake 
11County Board of Review from 1980 to 1981 and was active in 
12numerous local political activities; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp and her husband volunteered with 
14the Lake County Literacy Program; they were honored by the 
15program for donating over 500 volunteer hours to tutor adult 
16students in a pre-beginning English as a Second Language course 
17at the College of Lake County; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp was preceded in death by her dear 
19daughter, Leslie; and

1    WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp is survived by her beloved husband 
2of 66 years, Robert; and her sons, Eric and Brian; therefore, 
3be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her 
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Ellen A. Furtkamp; and 
7be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Ellen Furtkamp as an expression of 
10our sympathy.
