SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Joanne T. Stanek of Spring Grove, who 
4passed away on July 17, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Joanne Stanek was born on May 20, 1930, in 
6Woodstock to Robert and Edna (nee Phalin) Knox; she grew up in 
7McHenry and attended grade school at The Prairie School and St. 
8Mary Catholic School; she graduated from McHenry High School in 
91948; she married Wencil M. Stanek at St. Patrick Church in 
10McHenry on October 13, 1956; and
  
 
  
11    WHEREAS, Joanne Stanek was a member of St. Peter's Roman 
12Catholic Church, St. Peter's Christian Mothers Society, and the 
13Richmond Grade School Parent-Teacher Association, where she 
14was a room mother; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joanne Stanek enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid 
16cross-country skier and bike rider; she liked to garden and 
17canned her own produce for many years; she loved to travel, 
18especially to Fatima in Portugal and Medjugorje in 
19Bosnia-Herzegovina; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Joanne Stanek was preceded in death by her 
21parents; her husband; her grandchildren, Tommy Dowell and

1Stephanie Stanek; and her siblings, Mary Rossi, Kathleen Knox, 
2Robert Knox, Howard Knox, and John Knox; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Joanne Stanek is survived by her children, Steve 
4(Alicia) Stanek, Diane (Frank) Dowell, Don (Linda) Stanek, 
5Larry (Kimberly) Stanek, Michael (Andrea) Stanek, and David (V. 
6Michelle) Stanek; her 19 grandchildren; her 7 
7great-grandchildren; her sisters, Helen Busch, Julia (Glenn) 
8Huska, Lucille Harris, and Eileen (Ronald) Mauer; her brother, 
9Kevin Knox; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
12Joanne T. Stanek, and extend our sincere condolences to her 
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
14further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the family of Joanne Stanek as an expression of 
17our deepest sympathy.
