SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Warren Coultas Barrow of Pittsfield, who passed away on June 20, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow was born on March 11, 1929, in White Hall to Adlai (Doc) and Marinda Barrow; he graduated from Roodhouse High School and attended Northwestern University in Evanston for 3 years before transferring to the University of Georgia in Athens, graduating in 1953; he returned to the Midwest and attended the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago and received his doctorate in Medicine in 1957; he married Elvira Pessina on March 27, 1954; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago; following his residency, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a medical officer while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow joined Dr. Thomas Bunting in Pittsfield on October 27, 1961, to begin his life-long dream to become a general practitioner in a rural area; for 50 years he provided medical care to his community and served as general practitioner, cardiologist, gynecologist, obstetrician, emergency room physician, urologist, gastroenterologist, pulmonologist, and psychiatrist to his patients; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow enjoyed hunting and one of his most cherished times of the year was the Labor Day weekend dove hunt; he liked to tell hunting stories and had several generations of hunting dogs who were his loyal companions throughout his life; he was fond of watching old Western movies, fishing, reading, and traveling with his wife and children; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Barrow; his niece, Kim Barrow Badali (surviving husband, Bob); and his daughter, Kristine Barrow Tarpoff (surviving husband, Craig); and

WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elvira; his sons, Dan (Mollie) and Jim (Jennifer); his daughter, Amy (Mack); his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex, and Jill Barrow, Emily, Jack, and Tom Barrow, and Brock (Kathleen) and Emma Halbrook; his great-grandchildren, Lennon Barrow and Shay and Emilie Halbrook; his nephew, David Barrow; and his great-niece, Toni Badali; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Warren Coultas Barrow, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Warren Barrow as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
