2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of James William May, who passed away on |
4 | | April 27, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, James May was born on August 17, 1935, on the |
6 | | family farm in Montgomery County; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, James May attended one-room schools and graduated |
8 | | from Hilltop High School in 1952; he immediately matriculated |
9 | | to Brown's Business School in St. Louis, where he graduated |
10 | | from their programs in secretarial accounting and eventually |
11 | | court reporting programs; he also attended classes at St. Louis |
12 | | University and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; |
13 | | and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, During his career, James May held appointments |
15 | | with Federal Judge Rubye Hulen of St. Louis as well as Federal |
16 | | District Judge William Beatty of Alton; he was also an official |
17 | | court reporter for the Third Judicial Circuit Madison County in |
18 | | Edwardsville; in 1969, he formed May Reporting Service, a |
19 | | freelance court reporting firm doing mostly depositions and |
20 | | arbitrations; he was still active shortly before his passing; |
21 | | he also served on the Madison County Housing Authority for 5 |
22 | | years and served as the Authority's chairman; and
