2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joel Kagann of Woodridge; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Joel Kagann, a founding member of the Village of |
5 | | Woodridge, served a storied career with the village, first as |
6 | | its chief of police from 1962 until 1971, then as mayor from |
7 | | 1973 to 1977, and village clerk from 1979 to 1981; he served as |
8 | | a member and president of the Police Pension Board from 1990 |
9 | | until 2008; he was the clerk of the 18th Judicial Court for 31 |
10 | | years until his retirement in 2004; he was a founding member of |
11 | | St. Scholastica Parish; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Joel Kagann continued his long career of |
13 | | contributing to his community with his involvement in the Boy |
14 | | Scouts and the Lions Club, and serving as president of the |
15 | | Woodridge Special Events Committee; in 2000, he and his wife, |
16 | | Laurie, were selected as co-recipients of Woodridge's |
17 | | prestigious "Building on Our Dream Award" for their significant |
18 | | contributions to Woodridge; in 2009, on the 50th anniversary of |
19 | | the incorporation of Woodridge, Town Centre was re-dedicated as |
20 | | Kagann Plaza; and

21 | | WHEREAS, Joel Kagann and Laurie raised both of their |
22 | | children in Woodridge, and their son, Joseph, is following in |
