Amends the Alternate Fuels Act. Authorizes the Secretary of State to collect annual user fees from any individual,
partnership, association, corporation, or agency of the United States
government that registers any combination of 10 or more of the specified types of motor vehicles in the State of Illinois (now, those fees are collected only if one of those entities registers 10 or more of the specified types of vehicles in specific portions of the Chicago metropolitan area). Increases the amount of the fee from $20 to $40. Effective immediately.

4 | | Section 5. The Alternate Fuels Act is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 35 as follows:

7 | | Sec. 35. User fees.
|
8 | | (a) The Office of
the Secretary of State shall collect |
9 | | annual user fees from any individual,
partnership, |
10 | | association, corporation, or agency of the United States
|
11 | | government that registers any combination of 10 or more of the |
12 | | following types
of motor vehicles in the State of Illinois |
13 | | Covered Area : (1) vehicles of the First Division,
as defined in |
14 | | the Illinois Vehicle Code; (2) vehicles of the Second Division
|
15 | | registered under the B, D, F, H, MD, MF, MG, MH and MJ plate |
16 | | categories, as
defined in the Illinois Vehicle Code; and (3) |
17 | | commuter vans and livery vehicles
as defined in the Illinois |
18 | | Vehicle Code. This Section does not apply to
vehicles |
19 | | registered under the International Registration Plan under |
20 | | Section
3-402.1 of the Illinois Vehicle Code. The user fee |
21 | | shall be $40 $20 for each
vehicle registered in the State of |
