| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly wish | ||||||
| 3 | to congratulate McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement on November 30, 2014, after more | ||||||
| 5 | than 47 years of service in the law enforcement field; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Keith Nygren is a graduate of Northern Illinois | ||||||
| 7 | University and the FBI National Academy; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Keith Nygren began his career in DeKalb County in | ||||||
| 9 | 1967; he left DeKalb County in 1971 and began a 26-year career | ||||||
| 10 | with the Crystal Lake Police Department, where he worked his | ||||||
| 11 | way up through the ranks and retired as Chief of Police in | ||||||
| 12 | 1997; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Keith Nygren was appointed Sheriff of McHenry | ||||||
| 14 | County on April 15, 1997; he was then elected to be Sheriff of | ||||||
| 15 | McHenry County on November 3, 1998 and was sworn into office on | ||||||
| 16 | December 1, 1998; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, The McHenry County Sheriff's Office serves a | ||||||
| 18 | population of approximately 300,000 people and the Department | ||||||
| 19 | maintains a state-of-the-art corrections facility; with a | ||||||
| 20 | budget of approximately $35 million and a staff of more than | ||||||
| 21 | 400 employees, the Sheriff's Office is committed to maintaining | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | optimum standards and providing the citizens of McHenry County | ||||||
| 2 | with a strong and well-prepared law enforcement agency; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, During Keith Nygren's tenure as Sheriff in 2013, | ||||||
| 4 | his office attained the "Triple Crown" status by obtaining | ||||||
| 5 | simultaneous accreditation through the Commission on the | ||||||
| 6 | Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, the Commission on | ||||||
| 7 | Accreditation for Corrections of the American Correctional | ||||||
| 8 | Association's Commission, and the National Commission on | ||||||
| 9 | Correctional Healthcare; McHenry County is only the 3rd | ||||||
| 10 | Sheriff's Office in the State of Illinois to attain this | ||||||
| 11 | prestigious status; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Keith Nygren has served as McHenry County Sheriff | ||||||
| 13 | for more than 17 years and has vastly improved the Sheriff's | ||||||
| 14 | Office during his time in office; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, Keith Nygren will have been | ||||||
| 16 | the longest-serving Sheriff in McHenry County history; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, A celebration will be held in honor of Keith | ||||||
| 18 | Nygren's retirement on September 25, 2014; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 21 | we thank McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren for his many years | ||||||

| 1 | of service to the people of McHenry County and congratulate him | ||||||
| 2 | on this occasion of his retirement; and be it further
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 4 | presented to Sheriff Keith Nygren as an expression of our | ||||||
| 5 | congratulations and appreciation.
