HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the East St. Louis Lincoln 
4Senior High School classes of 1961 as they celebrate their 53rd 
5anniversary on September 14, 2014; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Senior High School classes of 1961 
7boasts  numerous successful members who can be found in 
8practically any field; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, For the January and June classes the themes were 
10"Our New Frontiers" and "Looking Up"; the processional was 
11"Triumphal March" from Aida; the music was "Thine is the 
12Kingdom" and "One World"; the class songs were "Vale" and 
13"Portrait of My Love"; the class Presidents were Omar Canty and 
14Mose McNeese; the Vice-Presidents were Lena Finley and Marilyn 
15Thomas; the Secretaries were Charlotte Henderson and Catherine 
16Redmond; the class colors were orange and black; the class 
17flowers were Orchid and Red Rose; the class mottos were "If 
18there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these 
19things", Philippians 4:8 and "The moving finger writes, and 
20having writ, moves on", Khayyam; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Members of the classes of 1961 offer shining 
22examples of how to grow into ones elderly years with grace and

1style; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, The memory of classmates who have passed away are 
3held close to the hearts of those that remain from the classes 
4of 1961; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Members of the Lincoln Senior High School classes 
6of 1961 are proud and honored to say "Our Strong Band Can Ne'er 
7Be Broken Formed at Lincoln High, For Surpassing Wealth 
8Unspoken, Sealed by  Friendship's Tie; Lincoln High School, 
9Lincoln High School, Deep Graven On Each Heart, Shall Be Found 
10Unwavering True, When We From Thee Shall Part; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
13we recognize the East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School 
14classes of 1961 as they celebrate their 53rd anniversary on 
15September 14, 2014; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
17presented to all members of the Lincoln Senior High School 
18classes of 1961.
