HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the 
4United Hellenic Voters of America in honor of its 40th 
5anniversary; and

 
6    WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America was founded 
7in 1974 and celebrates 40 years of success this year; and

 
8    WHEREAS, This non-partisan civic organization was created 
9to promote citizenship among people of Hellenic descent 
10throughout the United States; and

 
11    WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America has 
12encouraged people of Hellenic descent to participate in the 
13governmental process in their local communities; and

 
14    WHEREAS, This organization has assisted its membership in 
15exercising their rights, privileges and responsibilities as 
16citizens of the United States; and

 
17    WHEREAS, This organization has helped members of the Greek 
18and Greek-Cypriot Community in becoming integrated in U.S. 
19society while preserving their cultural and religious 
20heritage; and

1    WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America has helped 
2the Greek community obtain higher education, as well as further 
3their involvement in local, state and federal government; and

 
4    WHEREAS, The members of this organization have helped to 
5foster growth and preservation of our nation's democracy 
6through civic participation; and

 
7    WHEREAS, This organization has provided the Greek-American 
8community numerous services and support; and

 
9    WHEREAS, We recognize the hard work and dedication of Dr. 
10Dimitrios Kyriazopoulos, the National Supreme Chairman; Chris 
11Kontos, the National President; and all the members of the 
12United Hellenic Voters of America; and

 
13    WHEREAS, We recognize the 40 years of service the United 
14Hellenic Voters of America has provided to the community; 
15therefore, be it

 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
17NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
18we do hereby offer our congratulations to the members of the 
19United Hellenic Voters of America in honor of its 40th 
20anniversary; and be it further
