HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sandy Benson on the 
4occasion of her retirement as Director of Community and 
5Government Relations at Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Sandy Benson is the Director of Community and 
7Government Relations at Edward Hospital, where she's worked for 
8more than 20 years, beginning in 1991; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Sandy Benson has been instrumental in the effort 
10to improve access to healthcare in the west and southwest 
11suburbs of Chicago and has been a passionate lobbyist on 
12healthcare issues; she has brought a wealth of expertise from 
13her service on the Naperville, Plainfield, and Oswego Chamber 
14Boards and the Naperville Library Board; in addition, she has 
15served and continues to serve in a variety of capacities for 
16the Naperville Chamber of Commerce, the Naperville School 
17District 203, the Naperville Development Partnership, and the 
18Rotary Club of Naperville; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Sandy Benson has been honored for her community 
20service with the prestigious "Influential Women in Business 
21Award" from The Business Leger and the Naperville Jaycees 
22"Distinguished Service Award"; and

1    WHEREAS, Sandy Benson has a bachelor's degree in Business 
2Administration with a minor in Speech Communications from 
3Elmhurst College; she and her husband, John, have lived in 
4Naperville for more than 35 years; they have a son, Garth; a 
5daughter-in-law, Sereen; and a granddaughter, Hadley; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, A celebration in Sandy Benson's honor will be held 
7on April 15, 2014 at the Meson Sabika restaurant in Naperville; 
8therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we congratulate Sandy Benson on her retirement as Director of 
12Community and Government Relations at Edward-Elmhurst 
13Healthcare; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Sandy Benson as an expression of our esteem and 
16respect.
