2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Litesa Wallace on the |
4 | | occasion of earning her Doctor of Education in educational |
5 | | psychology from Northern Illinois University in May of 2013; |
6 | | and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has resided in Rockford for over 7 |
8 | | years; she has contributed to her community through |
9 | | volunteering for community organizations, being involved in |
10 | | civic efforts, and educating; she teaches many subjects, |
11 | | including sociology, career planning, college reading, and |
12 | | educational psychology at such institutions as University of |
13 | | Wisconsin - Whitewater, Northern Illinois University, and City |
14 | | Colleges of Chicago; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace holds a bachelor's degree in |
16 | | individual studies from Western Illinois University and a |
17 | | master's degree in applied family and child studies with a |
18 | | specialization in marriage and family therapy from Northern |
19 | | Illinois University; she holds a graduate certificate in |
20 | | advanced quantitative methods in education; she was also a |
21 | | doctoral fellow in the Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in |
22 | | Illinois Fellowship Program; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace's dissertation was titled "The |
2 | | Relationship Between Racial Identity, Perceived Racial |
3 | | Discrimination, and the Academic Self-concept of |
4 | | African-American College Men: A Mixed-Methods Examination"; |
5 | | she presented part of her study at the National Conference on |
6 | | Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education in San |
7 | | Francisco, California; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has been the recipient of the |
9 | | Graduate Leadership Award in University Programming and |
10 | | Activities from Northern Illinois University; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has developed and facilitated a |
12 | | women's empowerment workshop for Family Services of Southern |
13 | | Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, Inc.; she has also been |
14 | | heavily involved in the Black Graduate Student Association at |
15 | | Northern Illinois University and has served as a counselor at |
16 | | Rock Valley College and Rosecrance; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has served the people of this State |
18 | | faithfully as chief of staff for Illinois State Representative |
19 | | Chuck Jefferson; in this capacity, she provides casework |
20 | | assistance to members of the community and performs numerous |
21 | | community outreach initiatives; and |
22 | | WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace serves as a model of hard work, |

1 | | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
2 | | Illinois; therefore, be it

3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
4 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
5 | | we congratulate Litesa Wallace on her many achievements and |
6 | | contributions to the Rockford community and the State of |
7 | | Illinois and for earning her doctoral certificate; and be it |
8 | | further

9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
10 | | presented to Litesa Wallace as a symbol of our esteem and |
11 | | respect.
