|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased that Scott Reimers, a longtime and |
4 | | distinguished Director of the House Republican Research staff, |
5 | | who currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the House |
6 | | Republican Leader, was recently inducted into the Samuel K. |
7 | | Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, The Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative |
9 | | Internship Hall of Fame honors former legislative interns whose |
10 | | careers have exemplified distinguished public service; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers began his career in government |
12 | | through the Illinois Legislative Staff Internship Program in |
13 | | 1994, working for the House Republican Staff as a substantive |
14 | | and appropriation committee staff member, facilitating the |
15 | | Human Services and Insurance committees, and analyzing agency |
16 | | budgets; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, In 1999, Scott Reimers was promoted to the |
18 | | Director of Research for the House Republican Staff as a result |
19 | | of his extensive legislative knowledge and his unrivaled work |
20 | | ethic; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers has served as a mentor to hundreds |

1 | | of legislative research staffers, not only training them on how |
2 | | to excel professionally, but also molding them personally and |
3 | | developing their skill sets and talents by challenging and |
4 | | inspiring them; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, As Chief of Staff since 2011, Scott Reimers |
6 | | manages a staff that includes the legislative research, |
7 | | communications, technology, policy, appropriations, |
8 | | legislative assistant, and support functions of the House |
9 | | Republican Staff; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers' service extends beyond State |
11 | | government, as he is devoted to the practice of his Catholic |
12 | | faith and the support of the institution that has educated his |
13 | | children by serving on the Blessed Sacrament School Board; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in |
15 | | Political Science from Northern Illinois University and a |
16 | | Master of Public Administration degree from the University of |
17 | | Illinois in Springfield; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers currently serves his alma mater of |
19 | | Northern Illinois University as a member of the Alumni |
20 | | Association's board of directors; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers' love of Northern Illinois |

1 | | University extends beyond the classroom and board of directors |
2 | | into the athletic arena; a loyal Husky fan, he had the ability |
3 | | to attend the 2013 Orange Bowl with Governor Pat Quinn; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, It is a testament to Scott Reimers commitment as a |
5 | | public servant that, over the years, many of his colleagues and |
6 | | members of the legislature have become his closest friends; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers is a diehard Chicago White Sox fan |
8 | | who was able to see his team win the World Series in 2005, |
9 | | thanks to his friend and colleague, Illinois State |
10 | | Representative JoAnn Osmond; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Scott Reimers is a loving husband and father whose |
12 | | greatest joys in life are his wife, Lori, and his children, |
13 | | Sophie and Andrew; therefore, be it
|
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
15 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
16 | | we congratulate and thank Scott Reimers for his years of |
17 | | exceptional public service and for his induction into the |
18 | | Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame; |
19 | | and be it further
