| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the New Life in | ||||||
| 4 | Christ Interdenominational Church on the occasion of the 10th | ||||||
| 5 | anniversary of its founding; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The beginnings of the church took place in August | ||||||
| 7 | 2000 when Bishop Geoffrey V. Dudley, Sr. was assigned to Scott | ||||||
| 8 | Air Force Base near Belleville; although originally planning on | ||||||
| 9 | returning home to the State of Virginia when his assignment was | ||||||
| 10 | finished, by January 2001 he found himself planning a ministry | ||||||
| 11 | to serve the O'Fallon area; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, In September 2001, plans began to take shape for | ||||||
| 13 | the church and it started to acquire the necessary finances to | ||||||
| 14 | support it; in January 2002, the founding Core Group had | ||||||
| 15 | established a Business Planning Committee; in August 2002, | ||||||
| 16 | office space in O'Fallon was leased, and in November of that | ||||||
| 17 | year, land was purchased to serve as the church's future home; | ||||||
| 18 | and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, On April 20, 2003, the New Life in Christ | ||||||
| 20 | Interdenominational Church held its first service at the Four | ||||||
| 21 | Points Sheraton Hotel in Fairview Heights with an initial | ||||||
| 22 | congregation of 812 people; by January 2004, there was a | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | congregation of over 1,000, and a ground-breaking ceremony was | ||||||
| 2 | held on April 9, 2004 to begin construction on a new church | ||||||
| 3 | building; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The first service of the New Life in Christ | ||||||
| 5 | Interdenominational Church at its new home on Scott-Troy Road | ||||||
| 6 | was held on June 25, 2005; the current building is a 30,000 | ||||||
| 7 | square feet facility, with a 450-seat sanctuary, a gym, | ||||||
| 8 | Christian education classrooms, administrative offices, and a | ||||||
| 9 | child care center; the church currently has a congregation of | ||||||
| 10 | over 2,500, and continues to expand, with The Charles and Deane | ||||||
| 11 | Rayford Family Development Center (youth building) opening in | ||||||
| 12 | October 2010; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Senior Pastor Dudley was consecrated as a Bishop | ||||||
| 14 | in October 2009; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we congratulate the New Life in Christ Interdenominational | ||||||
| 18 | Church on its 10th anniversary and wish them many more | ||||||
| 19 | successful years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the New Life in Christ Interdenominational Church | ||||||
| 22 | as an expression of our esteem and respect.
