| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize the 39th Annual | ||||||
| 4 | Illinois High School Theatre Festival and those from the | ||||||
| 5 | Glenbard area high schools who are participating in this year's | ||||||
| 6 | festival; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Illinois High School Theatre Festival, taking | ||||||
| 8 | place from January 9 to January 11, 2014 is produced by the | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois Theatre Association and is the largest and oldest | ||||||
| 10 | non-competitive high school festival in the world; the 3-day | ||||||
| 11 | festival switches locations between the University of Illinois | ||||||
| 12 | at Urbana-Champaign and Illinois State University in Normal; | ||||||
| 13 | over 4,000 students, teachers, university representatives, | ||||||
| 14 | exhibitors, and volunteers come together to put on over 25 | ||||||
| 15 | different high school productions and over 150 workshops; other | ||||||
| 16 | highlights of the festival include college and university | ||||||
| 17 | auditions for high school seniors, professional development | ||||||
| 18 | for teachers, and the All-State Production, featuring student | ||||||
| 19 | cast and crew members from across the State; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Mark Kaetzer, a fine-arts instructor with | ||||||
| 21 | Glenbard East High School, has been selected to direct the 2014 | ||||||
| 22 | Illinois High School Theater Festival's All-State play, "The | ||||||
| 23 | Grapes of Wrath", which will be performed during the festival | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | at Illinois State University; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Two-hundred twenty-seven Illinois high school | ||||||
| 3 | students auditioned for the All-State play; the cast includes | ||||||
| 4 | 30 students and a crew of 28; eight students from the 4 | ||||||
| 5 | Glenbard schools auditioned and 3 were selected; "The Grapes of | ||||||
| 6 | Wrath" cast will include Sarah Marino of Glenbard North High | ||||||
| 7 | School, Giana Biddle of Glenbard East High School, and Molly | ||||||
| 8 | Hernandez of Glenbard West High School; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, In addition to Mark Kaetzer as director, the play | ||||||
| 10 | will include Justin Mayo of Glenbard East High School as | ||||||
| 11 | producer, Roberta Kmiec of Glenbard East High School as scenic | ||||||
| 12 | designer and technical designer, Steve Jacobs of Glenbard North | ||||||
| 13 | High School as assistant technical director, and Donna Burke of | ||||||
| 14 | Glenbard North High School as costume coordinator; therefore, | ||||||
| 15 | be it

| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we recognize the 39th Annual Illinois High School Theatre | ||||||
| 19 | Festival and those individuals from the Glenbard area high | ||||||
| 20 | schools participating in the festival; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to Glenbard North High School, Glenbard East High | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | School, and Glenbard West High school as an expression of our | ||||||
| 2 | esteem and respect.
