2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald | ||||||
4 | "Jerry" VanWinkle of Peoria, who passed away on August 9, 2013; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle was born on March 23, 1938 in | ||||||
7 | Peoria; his parents were John D. and Velda M. (Foster) | ||||||
8 | VanWinkle; he married Carol Hagel on October 2, 1970, in | ||||||
9 | Havana; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle graduated from Manual High | ||||||
11 | School; he subsequently attended Bradley University for | ||||||
12 | mechanical engineering; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle retired from Caterpillar as a | ||||||
14 | journeyman millwright, working in Research and Development at | ||||||
15 | the Mossville Tech Center; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle was a life member of Illinois | ||||||
17 | Lodge 263, the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and Mohammed | ||||||
18 | Shrine; he was a life member of the Society of Hospitalers, a | ||||||
19 | Thrice Potent Master and life member of the Valley of Peoria | ||||||
20 | Scottish Rite, and a life member of AMVETS (Army National | ||||||
21 | Guard); he was also a member of Midwest Gun Collectors, for |

1 | which he taught basic safety, and Midwest Cruisers Association, | ||||||
2 | where he enjoyed showing his 1979 green Ford truck at | ||||||
3 | cruise-ins; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle enjoyed spending time at | ||||||
5 | Wildlife Prairie Park and with his horses, Bobbie and Sissy; | ||||||
6 | and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle was preceded in death by his | ||||||
8 | parents and his brother, Ron VanWinkle; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle is survived by his wife, Carol; | ||||||
10 | his children, Lynn Kerley, Mark (DiAnna) Kerley, Jerry (Kelly) | ||||||
11 | Kerley, and Michelle (Rob) Banta; his 11 grandchildren; his 7 | ||||||
12 | great-grandchildren; his niece, Rhonda Dyess; and his | ||||||
13 | sister-in-law, Kay VanWinkle; therefore, be it
| ||||||
14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
15 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
16 | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Gerald "Jerry" VanWinkle; and be it further
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Gerald VanWinkle as an expression of | ||||||
20 | our sympathy.
