2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Freda |
4 | | Aron; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Freda Aron was born in Brooklyn, New York, in |
6 | | 1915; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, At the age of 21, Freda Aron moved to Chicago to |
8 | | attend nursing school; while there, she met and married her |
9 | | loving husband, Richard, and began a family; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, After many years of nursing in hospitals and |
11 | | healthcare centers, Freda Aron moved to Utah as a VISTA |
12 | | volunteer at the age of 75, while there, she practiced nursing |
13 | | on a Navajo reservation; she later moved to Sitka, Alaska to |
14 | | volunteer in running a shelter for abused women and children; |
15 | | while in Sitka, she gave strength and dignity to battered women |
16 | | and children and offered clothing, counsel, medical advice, and |
17 | | care to the communities of both places that she loved so well; |
18 | | she also volunteered as a forest ranger/goodwill ambassador and |
19 | | delighted visitors there with stories of the city and her past; |
20 | | and |
21 | | WHEREAS, Freda Aron had a regular Thursday morning radio |

1 | | program on KCAW called 'Frankie and Freda', highlighting the |
2 | | music of Frank Sinatra; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Freda Aron was an avid writer and following |
4 | | politics intently; over the years, she wrote regularly for the |
5 | | Bugle in Niles, the Lerner Papers in Skokie, the Chicago |
6 | | Tribune, the Raven Newspaper in Sitka, Alaska, and various Utah |
7 | | papers; she was also the editor of SHE, the first local |
8 | | newspaper written exclusively for women, in the early 1970s; |
9 | | from the 1950s until recently, she wrote articles about her |
10 | | very liberal political views, which she was happy to share with |
11 | | everyone; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Freda Aron was the beloved wife of the late Dr. |
13 | | Richard F. Aron; the dear mother of Stan, Len, Cara, and Linda; |
14 | | the mother-in-law of Brenda and Liz; the grandmother of Cade |
15 | | (Bari), Victoria, Marisa, and Shauna; the devoted daughter of |
16 | | Sam and Dora Umansky; and the loving sister of Esther and |
17 | | Millicent; therefore, be it

18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
19 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
20 | | we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of |
21 | | Freda Aron; and be it further
