5 | | WHEREAS, Moms have always known that movement is the best |
6 | | sign of their babies' well-being in utero; scientific studies |
7 | | indicate that kick counting, a daily record of moms' perception |
8 | | of their babies' movement during the third trimester, is a |
9 | | reliable, harmless, simple and effective screening for the |
10 | | babies' well-being; and

11 | | WHEREAS, Kick counting can document changes in the fetal |
12 | | movement pattern and can help moms-to-be alert their healthcare |
13 | | provider of potential problems; a timely evaluation can allow |
14 | | intervention and prevention of potential problems, including |
15 | | stillbirth; and

16 | | WHEREAS, The American College of Obstetricians and |
17 | | Gynecologists recommends kick counting as one method to monitor |
18 | | pregnancy health, through noting the time it takes for a baby |
19 | | to complete 10 movements, such as kicks, jabs, rolls, twists, |
20 | | and turns, when the baby is usually most active during the day; |
