| 1 | AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.

| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by changing | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | Sections 2-138, 14-135.09, 15-169, and 18-145 and by adding | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 6 | Section 16-180.1 as follows:

| 8 | Sec. 2-138. To hire employees.

clerical or other help as shall be required for the | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | efficient

| 12 | their rate of pay.

| 6 | any existing contract, under which System funds are used to | ||||||

| 19 | General. If the board pursues a mandamus action under Section | ||||||
| 20 | 15-156 of this Code as amended by Senate Bill No. 1 of the 98th | ||||||
| 21 | General Assembly in the form passed by the General Assembly, | ||||||
| 22 | then the board may select the counsel of their choice.

| 23 | Notwithstanding any other provision of this Article, the | ||||||
| 24 | System may not enter into any new contract, or extend or renew | ||||||
