Amends the Election Code. Provides that, in 2013 only, the petition filing period for established political parties shall be extended to December 4, 2013. Requires the State Board of Elections to notify the public of the extended filing period. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 1-4 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (10 ILCS 5/1-4) (from Ch. 46, par. 1-4)

| 7 | | Sec. 1-4.
(a) In any case in which this Act prescribes a |
| 8 | | period of time within
which petitions for nomination must be |
| 9 | | filed, the office in which
petitions must be filed shall remain |
| 10 | | open for the receipt of such
petitions until 5:00 P.M. on the |
| 11 | | last day of the filing period.
|
| 12 | | (b) For the 2013 consolidated election period, an election |
| 13 | | authority or local election official shall accept until 104 |
| 14 | | days before the election at which candidates are to be on the |
| 15 | | ballot any petitions for nomination or certificate of |
| 16 | | nomination required by this Code to be filed no earlier than |
| 17 | | 113 and no later than 106 days before the consolidated |
| 18 | | election. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code, for |
| 19 | | purposes of this subsection (b) only, signatures and circulator |
| 20 | | statements on petitions for nomination filed with an election |
| 21 | | authority or local election official on the final day for |
| 22 | | filing petitions for nomination shall not be deemed invalid for |
| 23 | | the sole reason that the petitions were circulated between 90 |
