1 | | AN ACT concerning government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
5 | | Limitation on Public Service Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act: |
7 | | "Elected official" means any person who holds an office |
8 | | that is subject to election in accordance with the Election |
9 | | Code. |
10 | | "Public office" means an office to which a person is |
11 | | elected or appointed to discharge a public duty for the State |
12 | | or any of its political subdivisions and an office which is |
13 | | established and the qualifications and duties are prescribed by |
14 | | statute. |
15 | | Section 10. Limitation. An elected official may not hold |
16 | | more than one public office simultaneously. This limitation |
17 | | applies regardless of whether the elected official receives |
18 | | compensation for a public office.

19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
20 | | becoming law.
