|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of
Roberta J. "Bert" Griffin of Bloomington, |
4 | | who passed away on July 19, 2012; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was born on April 13, 1928, in |
6 | | Bloomington; she was the daughter of William Herman and Lula |
7 | | Mae Miller Knecht; she married Charles J. Griffin on June 26, |
8 | | 1949, in Peoria; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was employed as a real estate |
10 | | broker; after receiving her real estate license in 1960 and her |
11 | | broker's license in 1961; she became the owner and operator of |
12 | | Cardinal Real Estate in Normal, where she worked from 1961 to |
13 | | 1978; she subsequently relocated to Weaver and Associates |
14 | | Realtors for 17 years and later Brady & Associates, Brady Real |
15 | | Estate, where she worked until her retirement in 2009; she was |
16 | | also part owner of Variety Liquors and Cave Lounge from 1977 to |
17 | | 1983; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin served as president of |
19 | | Bloomington-Normal Association of Realtors in 1970, 1980, and |
20 | | 1991; she was designated as Realtor of the Year in 1986 and the |
21 | | State of Illinois' Associate of the Year in 1986; she also |
22 | | served as treasurer and vice president of the Real Estate |

1 | | Political Action Committee, among many other boards and |
2 | | committees; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was a member of Trinity Lutheran |
4 | | Church in Bloomington; she enjoyed playing cards, including |
5 | | bridge, euchre, and gin; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was preceded in death by her |
7 | | parents; her 3 brothers; her sister; and her guardian, Alma |
8 | | Langhoff; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin is survived by her daughters, |
10 | | Judith K. (William) Henderson, Nancy J. Griffin, and Connie S. |
11 | | (Mark McIntosh); her grandchildren, Melanie (Shannon) Seelig, |
12 | | Wil (Gary Lee Miller) Henderson, John (Emily) Henderson, |
13 | | Lindsay Henderson, Lane Lampert, Lauren Lampert, and Lyssa |
14 | | Lampert; and her great-grandchildren, Payton Jane "P.J." |
15 | | Fuller and Katelyn and Carson Seelig; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
18 | | her family and friends, the passing of Roberta J. "Bert" |
19 | | Griffin; and be it further
