2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | ||||||
3 | saddened to learn of the death of Robert W. "Rob" Pullen of | ||||||
4 | Naperville, who passed away on July 2, 2012; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was born on May 29, 1962, in Oak | ||||||
6 | Lawn to Robert and Mary Kay Pullen; he married Dawn Amendola on | ||||||
7 | September 16, 1988; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was a parishioner and student at Our | ||||||
9 | Lady of Ransom in Niles; he graduated from Maine East High | ||||||
10 | School in Park Ridge in 1980; he earned a Bachelor of Science | ||||||
11 | in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in Physics, from | ||||||
12 | the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he played | ||||||
13 | 4 years as the starting shortstop for the university's baseball | ||||||
14 | team; in 1993, he earned his MBA in management from | ||||||
15 | Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Rob Pullen joined Tellabs, Inc. in 1985, as an | ||||||
17 | electrical engineer; he worked his way up to become the Chief | ||||||
18 | Executive Officer in 2008, after holding jobs in development, | ||||||
19 | sales, marketing, and services; he reached the position of CEO | ||||||
20 | and President and was a member of the Board of Directors; he | ||||||
21 | served as the chairman emeritus of the executive board for the | ||||||
22 | Telecommunications Industry Association and was a former |

1 | co-chair of SuperComm; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Rob Pullen was a member of SS. Peter & Paul | ||||||
3 | Catholic Church in Naperville; he coached soccer, basketball, | ||||||
4 | and baseball, helping children to excel in everything they did; | ||||||
5 | he coached his son Brendan's Naperville Little League Cardinals | ||||||
6 | to win the city championship in 2007, and he coached the | ||||||
7 | Naperville White Sox Travel Baseball Team; he enjoyed traveling | ||||||
8 | the world along with boating, water and snow skiing, | ||||||
9 | snowmobiling, and spending time with his family at their lake | ||||||
10 | house in Green Lake, Wisconsin; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen is survived by his wife Dawn Pullen; | ||||||
12 | his children, Brittany and Brendan Pullen; his parents, Robert | ||||||
13 | and Mary Kay (nee Nolan) Pullen; his siblings, Jim (Kim) | ||||||
14 | Pullen, Sharon Varco, Jack Pullen, and Mike (Lisa) Pullen; his | ||||||
15 | in-laws, Keith (Mary) Amendola, Craig (Diane) Amendola, and | ||||||
16 | Krista (Dan Fagan) Amendola; and his 18 nieces and nephews; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Robert Pullen, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
