SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lillian G. Jeep (nee, Jacob), who
4recently passed away; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was a fiery advocate for the rights of the
6underprivileged and under-represented and was a long-life
7supporter of the Progressive Movement; her sons remember being
8taken to speeches by Dr. King and remember her chaining herself
9to the gates of the Great Lakes Naval Training Center to
10protest the prosecution of more than one war; and
 
11    WHEREAS, She was past co-chairperson of the Lake County
12Peace Alliance; she made several trips to Washington, D.C. to
13participate in anti-war and civil rights marches; and
 
14    WHEREAS, She supported and loved the arts, especially
15theater and jazz; and
 
16    WHEREAS, She lived happily for the past 2 years at Barton
17Residence in Zion; previously, she lived comfortably and
18happily at Lilac Ledge in Waukegan for 10 years; she leaves
19behind too many friends and companions to mention; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lillian Jeep was the beloved wife of the late

1Vincent for more than 50 years; she was the loving mother of
2Markham (Susan), Kenneth (Cecelia), and Jeffrey (Elizabeth);
3the dear grandmother of Katie (Hunter), Jenny (Eric), Graham
4(fiancee, Susan), Amilia, Adam, Laura, and Sarah; and the
5great-grandmother of Benjamin; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8her family and friends, the passing of Lillian Jeep; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Lillian Jeep as a symbol of our
12sincere sympathy.
