|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Donald R. Herson of Stephenson, Michigan, |
4 | | formerly of North Chicago, who passed away on October 27, 2011; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, He was born on Mother's Day, May 8, 1938, in |
7 | | Menominee, Michigan; he graduated from Menominee High School in |
8 | | 1956; after high school, he moved to North Chicago, where he |
9 | | married Sally Brown and raised his family; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, He volunteered for the North Chicago Fire |
11 | | Department and worked full time for the Waukegan News Sun; he |
12 | | was a member of the Jaycees and dabbled in North Chicago |
13 | | politics; he founded Vogue Printers in the mid 1960s; he |
14 | | successfully made a career in the printing field and retired in |
15 | | the early 1990s; and

16 | | WHEREAS, He was adventurous and was able to participate in |
17 | | the Great American Race, a cross country road rally, for 3 |
18 | | years, once in a 1931 Rolls Royce and twice in his favored 1924 |
19 | | Seagrave Fire truck; he enjoyed working on his class reunions, |
20 | | where he was blessed to have met his present wife, Lois; they |
21 | | married in 2004; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, He returned to Stephenson, Michigan upon |
2 | | retirement and enjoyed traveling the world and spending winters |
3 | | in Sun City West, Arizona, hunting at The Farm and his passion |
4 | | for antique automobiles; he recently accepted the Lord as His |
5 | | Savior and spent his last days surrounded by loving family and |
6 | | supportive friends; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Donald Herson is survived by his amazing wife, |
8 | | Lois; his previous wife, Sally; his children, Tamilyn Beckner, |
9 | | Valerie Grosskopf, Sherri (Art) Arizmendi, Brian (Kathy), and |
10 | | Jef; his grandchildren, Allen and Jennifer Beckner, Brad and |
11 | | Eric Grosskopf, Katie, Tony, Heather, and Kevin Herson, and |
12 | | Artie, Andrew, Alex, Anakin, and Aiden Arizmendi; his |
13 | | son-in-law, Ray Beckner; his special sons, Alan Kalinoski and |
14 | | Mark Jasper; and his special friends, Paul Bromund and Ted |
15 | | Richter; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
18 | | his family and friends, the passing of Donald Herson; and be it |
19 | | further
|
20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Donald Herson as a symbol of our |
22 | | sincere sympathy.
