SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Oehmen of Tinley Park, who passed
4away on October 31, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the
6United States Army in the Anti-Aircraft Unit; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He was a 42 year volunteer at the Veterans of
8Foreign Wars Post 2791; he was also a member of American Legion
9Post 615; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He was known for his one-of-a-kind handmade cards;
11he sent out more than 400 Christmas cards, in addition to
12birthday, special occasions, and to offer condolences to
13others; he loved to share his respect for other military men
14and women; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He held many positions at the VFW over the years,
16but was especially proud of participating in military funerals
17at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Robert Oehmen was the beloved husband of Charline
19Oehmen, nee Jung; he was the loving father of Peter (Becky),
20Susan (Ken) Minus, Robert (Theresa), Mark (Lori), Jennifer

1(Tom) Melton, Aiyana Michelle Masumi, Steven (Diane), Kevin
2(Sheryl) Clancy, Maureen (Jeff) Zwier, Joseph Clancy, and
3Robert Clancy; he was the proud grandfather of 25 and great
4grandfather of 40; he was the caring great-great grandfather of
52; he was the dear brother of Dolores Walton, Eugene (Marge),
6and the late Jim (Kay) Oehmen; and he was the fond uncle of
7many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of Robert Oehmen; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Robert Oehmen as a symbol of our
14sincere sympathy.
