SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lynn Gordon Ponivas of Alton, who passed
4away on September 30, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born December 14, 1942, in Buffalo, New
6York, to Hugh and Agnes Dora (Bargmann) Ponivas; he served his
7country as a yeoman in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and the
8Navy Reserves as a Chief Petty Officer; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He served as a Lutheran schoolteacher in various
10schools in Illinois and Missouri, as a driver for JB Hunt, as
11an AAL representative, and as a church custodian at various
12times in his life; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
14sister, Audrey (Ponivas) Cooley; his brothers, Bruce Ponivas
15and Floyd Ponivas; and his father-in-law, Gilbert Theiss; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lynn Ponivas is survived by his wife, Nancy
17(Theiss) Ponivas; their sons and daughters-in-law, Bram and
18Jenn Ponivas, CPT Drew and Bethany Ponivas, and MMI John and
19Ambyre Ponivas; his grandchild, Eli Ponivas; his brothers and
20sister, Clyde Ponivas, Shirley (Ponivas) Hayes, and Russell and
21Linda Ponivas; his sister-in-law, Ernelle Ponivas; his

1sister-in-law, Kathy (Theiss) and Dan Schoenherr; his
2brother-in-law, Gilbert Theiss Jr.; his mother-in-law, Viola
3(Gerler) Theiss; and numerous nephews, nieces and extended
4family; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7his family and friends, the passing of Lynn Ponivas; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Lynn Ponivas as a symbol of our
11sincere sympathy.
