2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Nat P. Ozmon, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | September 14, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was born on March 4, 1925, in Davenport, | ||||||
6 | Iowa; he attended college at New York University and received | ||||||
7 | his law degree from Northwestern University, where he ranked | ||||||
8 | first in his class; he was also elected to the Board of Law | ||||||
9 | Review Editors and was installed in the Order of the Coif, a | ||||||
10 | legal scholastic honor society; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was the senior member and founder of | ||||||
12 | Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak, & Kohen, Ltd.; during his 40-year | ||||||
13 | career as a trial and appellate lawyer, he was dedicated to | ||||||
14 | preserving and enhancing the rights of injured victims; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon served as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola | ||||||
16 | University School of Law, where he taught Trial Advocacy senior | ||||||
17 | law students for 10 years; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was certified by the American Board of | ||||||
19 | Trial Advocates; he was a diplomat of the American Board of | ||||||
20 | Professional Liability Attorneys and a fellow and a founder of | ||||||
21 | the Roscoe Pound Foundation, the Trial Lawyers for Public |

1 | Justice, and the Institute for Injury Reduction; he was a | ||||||
2 | recognized leader of the bar and served on the managing boards | ||||||
3 | of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Chicago Bar | ||||||
4 | Association, and the Society of Trial Lawyers; he was also a | ||||||
5 | past president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was listed as one of "The Best Lawyers | ||||||
7 | in America" by the Harvard Law School Study; he was also the | ||||||
8 | recipient of the Leonard Ring Lifetime Achievement Award for | ||||||
9 | his commitment to victims rights and trial by jury; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon is survived by his wife, June Maguire | ||||||
11 | Ozmon; his children, Nat P. Ozmon, Jr., Laird Ozmon, Lorna | ||||||
12 | Ozmon, Kelle Ozmon, and Rachel Maguire; and his six | ||||||
13 | grandchildren; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
16 | his family and friends, the passing of Nat P. Ozmon; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Nat Ozmon as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | sympathy.
